Having given up Facebook for Lent, it's opened my eyes to both the good and bad side to all this so-called "social networking" craze. I'm very excited too see that this is actually teaching me some sort of lesson in life and not just a challenge I gave myself to do because I'm Catholic. This is the first sacrifice I've made during the season of Lent that has taught me what true discipline is all about.
I did have to sacrifice not being in "the know" of a lot of things, which has brought my heart in a better place. I guess the phrase "Out of sight, out of mind." plays a crucial role in all of this. I am indifferent about how I am feeling at the moment. Some days I feel just a little bit ostracized from my group of friends who use these social networking apps as a means of going out and having a good time. On the other hand, I'm glad I've chosen this path for the time being in order to get back on track with what is more important; my life. A little sacrifice goes a long way. My friends will always be there for me, therefore I need to take advantage now to be alone for a while and find my faith.
Lastly, I want to thank my elite group of friends that have managed to stay in touch through the traditional calling on the phone, emails, and texts! =) They make me feel special and I am proud to call them my REAL Friends!
